Dr. Opal Lee - the Grandmother of Juneteenth and two little free libraries.
Created in honor of Dr. Opal Lee on the eve of her 100th birthday, this slate began as a tribute to the Grandmother of Juneteenth and became part of a much bigger story. Three portraits were made, three were brought, and all three found a home—including one carried by Dr. Lee's granddaughter to be given to Dr. Lee herself. Some things simply aren't for sale. This was one of them.
